Terms of Service
By using this platform, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're short.
1. Account requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You must provide accurate information when signing up. One account per person — do not create accounts for others or create multiple accounts to evade restrictions.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your login credentials secure.
2. Acceptable use
You may not use this platform to:
- Post, share, or generate spam, harassment, hate speech, or illegal content
- Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service
- Scrape or bulk-download content without permission
- Use AI features to generate harmful content (we actively moderate this)
- Impersonate other users or entities
- Upload copyrighted material you don't have rights to distribute
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
3. Content ownership
You own the content you create on this platform — your study sets, notes, tutor sessions, and form responses are yours.
By submitting content to the platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and display it within the service on your behalf. This license ends when you delete the content or your account.
You can delete your content at any time. Deleting your account removes all your content after the 30-day grace period.
4. Public content
Study sets you mark as public can be viewed, browsed, and saved (copied) by any user of the platform, including users who are not signed in.
You can make a public set private at any time, which removes it from public search and discovery. Users who have already saved a copy retain their copy.
Do not make content public that you don't have rights to share.
5. Educator features
Teachers who use class features are responsible for compliance with applicable education privacy laws (including FERPA in the US) regarding their students' data.
We provide tools; teachers ensure compliance. If your institution has specific data agreements required, contact us before deploying to students.
Do not use class features with students under 13 — see our Privacy Policy on children's data.
6. AI-generated content
AI features (Study Buddy, Tutor, Quiz Battle, Mock Trial, Smart Import) generate content automatically. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of AI-generated content. AI can make mistakes, including factual errors, hallucinated citations, and incorrect legal or scientific analysis.
Do not use AI output from this platform for medical, legal, financial, or other life-affecting decisions without consulting a qualified professional.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity. Serious violations (illegal content, abuse) may result in immediate ban without warning.
We reserve the right to shut down or modify the service, though we'll give reasonable notice for significant changes.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate or appropriate for your specific use case.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM (OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER).
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Luis Obispo County, California, unless otherwise required by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We will notify you by email at least 14 days before making material changes to these terms.
Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree to the new terms, delete your account before they take effect.
